BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT par Jonathan Hénault
"On ne le fait pas dire à Milos (il le dit d’ailleurs très bien tout seul), mais c’est bien vrai qu’en ces temps semi-apocalyptiques qui nous posent comme une grosse pierre sur la poitrine dès qu’on a le malheur d’ouvrir le journal ou d’allumer la radio, ça fait sacrément du bien de respirer un bon coup.
Une bonne respiration, c’est d’ailleurs peut-être au-delà du titre tout ce que prétend être ce dixième album (déjà ! fichtre, on ne rajeunit pas) du grand (par la taille et le talent) musicien bordelais, qui comme à son habitude réussit le tour de force de placer très haut la barre sans avoir besoin de péter plus haut que son cul pour la franchir ensuite avec aisance.
Il faut dire qu’en guise de marchepied de luxe, Milos peut toujours compter sur une belle brochette de musiciens plus ou moins invités, entre vieille garde toujours fidèle au poste (le Berrouet derrière ses fûts, le Carraguel derrière ses cordes) et jeunes pousses pourvus de comptes Instagram et de solides références musicales que l’on devine poindre à l’oreille. Sans oublier bien entendu les grattes sensibles de Boris Boublil et le précieux apport vocal des filles d’Adamée ou d’Iris Capricorne, loin des rivages gothiques de son groupe Dark Sanctuary.
Et Milos dans tous ça ? Et ta sœur ? Elle bat le beurre, et Milos bat le rythme, et tisse sa toile, habile, d’araignée géante musicophage dont chaque fil relie un style musical à un autre sans se soucier le moindre du monde de ce qu’elle pourra y capturer comme drôle d’insecte à la fin du morceau. Pop-folk-indie-world-rock-machin, on s’en fout à la fin, enfin vous je ne sais pas, mais moi je m’en bats un peu le steak comme de ma première crise énergétique.
Ce qui compte finalement, c’est que Milos réussit le pari de la positivité, conviant tour à tour Bill Callahan et Adam Green, et tant pis si ça commence à sonner comme une critique de Télérama. Ce qui compte, c’est que chacune de ces petites chansonnettes ne sont pas autre chose qu’un petit bout de soleil en demi-teinte et doux-amer, et tant pis si ça commence à sonner comme du Mary Poppins. Ce qui compte, c’est que Breathe in, Breathe out déroule sa pelote tout tranquillement et nous embarque, du guilleret titre éponyme au très lent et très beau Out in the Cold, dans un bel album qui respire à plein poumons, et c’est déjà pas mal. "

" We don't make Milos say it (he says it very well by himself), but it's true that in these semi-apocalyptic times that drops a big stone on our chest as soon as we have the misfortune to open the newspaper or turn on the radio, it's damn good to take a deep breath.
Breathe out, it is perhaps beyond the title, all that it claims to be, the tenth album of Milos, the big (by size and talent) musician from Bordeaux, who as usual succeeds in the tour de force to place his new album with ease on the top.
It is necessary to say that Milos can always count on a beautiful range of musicians more or less invited, between old faithful friends from The Cocktail Bananas, a local band and new friends with solid musical references. Without forgetting of course the sensitive scratches of Boris Boublil (Jhon Parish, Mù…) and the precious vocal contribution of singers from Adamée or Iris Capricorne, far from the gothic shores of her band Dark Sanctuary, from Thailand members of Stylish Nonsense/Panda records …
There are 23 musicians that contributed to the album.
Milos beats the rhythm, and weaves his web, skilfully, of giant musicophagous spider whose each thread connects a musical style to another without worrying in the least about what it will be able to capture. Pop-folk-indie-world-rock-something, who cares in the end, I don't know about you, but I don't give a damn about it, only music matters.
What counts in the end is that Milos succeeds to achieve positiveness influenced by musicians like Bill Callahan and Adam Green… What matters is that each of these songs are nothing more than a little bit of sunshine and bittersweet. What counts is that Breathe in, Breathe out unrolls quietly and embarks us, from the cheerful eponymous title to the very slow and beautiful single Out in the Cold, in a beautiful album that breathes deeply. "
